The Palace Armoury Valletta

The Palace Armory is a collection of weaponry, located in the Palace of the Grand Master in the city of Valletta. It was the armory of the Order of the Knights in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the last arsenal founded by the knights’ order. It is one of the world’s largest collection of weapons and protective equipment located in the original building. The Palace Armory has been operating as a museum since 1860.

Museum collections include:

– complete armor of the knights of the Order of St. Jan, including the personal armor of the great masters Martin Garzez and Alof de Wignacourt,
– soldiers’ battle armor, made mainly in Italy, and also in France, Spain and Germany,
– firearms and other weapons, including Turkish weapons acquired during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565,
– cannons and other artillery from Maltese fortifications,
– armament from the times of World War I and II.
